Monday Musings

**My heart breaks for all of those affected by the shooting in Connecticut. What a terrible thing that happened and I just wish people would focus on the innocent lives lost and the tragedy itself instead of making this into a political statement. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims of this tragedy.
**After the terrible shooting, I read a lot of hateful, terrible things on Facebook. Thus, I had to delete some “friends” on there. I think we have enough hate in the world already we don’t need to continue the hateful words, thoughts, and actions.
**I had to do a long term gestational diabetes test (bummer) but I did get good news today that I passed with flying colors, yay! So bring on the sweets for Christmas! 😉
**We might have a white Christmas after all…..it’s been very dry for Iowa lately, but sounds like we might get a snow storm this week some time. If it could be snowy on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day then go back to 60 degree weather and sunny, I would be happy. 🙂
**Today I couldn’t zip up my winter coat….11 more weeks until Baby Boy is supposed to arrive!
**I love getting all the Christmas cards in the mail, please send me some. I love looking at your photos and seeing what you have been up to. A friend of mine did something cool, where she wrote about the top 12 Happenings of her 2012. I thought that was a great way to share what’s been going on in her life in a cute and simple way. I am stealing her idea for next year. 🙂
**Hope you all have a wonderful week, and remember to hug your loved ones a little closer and a little longer, you are lucky to be able to do that.
**Happy Holidays!

Monday Musings

**I had my midwife appointment today and had to drink my glucose drink for my gestational diabetes test. Really hoping I don’t have gestational diabetes, I won’t find out until later tomorrow or Wednesday. The drink is only 5 oz. but having to drink a thick, sugary liquid in three minutes after a large lunch = not good. I haven’t felt good since chugging that. Glad that’s over.
**Speaking of my midwife, my appointment went well and little man is measuring right on! Woohoo! 🙂
**So our dog, Brynn, is a little chunky….but hey she is almost 5 that means middle age in human years and we all know its harder to keep the weight off the older you get. But now that we have the basement done, I have been putting her on the treadmill (don’t worry we still go on walks) and so far she stays on for about ten minutes before she is done….not too shabby! It’s just so funny watching her on there, I wish you could all see her.
**Curt and I got a lot of Christmas shopping done this weekend, I am feeling much better!
**I have been listening to Christmas music in the car, at work etc. and today on my drive to work it was ruined by a Taylor Swift Christmas song. I know a lot of people like her, but I am sorry I just can’t stand her music, and I personally don’t think she is very talented. GASP! That’s right I said it, but she put me in a foul mood this morning.
**Yesterday, I think Curt and I were the definition of lazy and it was great. We made breakfast, and then spent the entire day down in our new basement and watched moves. It was glorious. Below, a photo of my two faves on relaxation day.

Monday Musings

**Sorry I haven’t posted my 26 or 27 week belly post, I hope to do so later this week. But can you believe, I’m 27 weeks pregnant?! Eek, time is flying, can’t wait to meet this little guy 🙂
**Today at a local grocery store I heard over the intercom that if you buy a candy bar during check out they will donate a dollar to fight Juvenile Diabetes….shouldn’t it be more like buy a pound of apples or something instead of a candy bar? I’m confused.
**I live in Iowa and today the temperature was 62! I wore short sleeves and no coat to work, I really dislike this weather. Not that I want a big snow storm, but is a little hard to enjoy my Christmas lights and hot chocolate when it feels like Spring.
**Speaking of Christmas….I almost had a mini panic attack this weekend when I realized we still had no Christmas decor up and we have barely started our holiday shopping! So I got most of our Christmas stuff up,aside from the tree and I have forced Curt to start our shopping with me. I am a big planner and scheduler….this should be done by now!
**I can barely contain my excitement because tomorrow our carpet is getting installed in the basement! Curt will be done! He has done amazing on the basement and I can’t wait to show you!
**One last thing….thank goodness the Duchess Kate is pregnant! Congrats to the couple, but man people were all over her for months on “bump watch,” give the poor Duchess a break now!

Monday Musings

**I have the day off due to Veterans Day. Thank you to all who are serving, have served, and who have died serving. It truly is because of you and we have our freedom, you are all brave men and women.
**Tomorrow, my husband and I will have been married for two years. Time flies, and I have loved every second of the last two years and can’t wait to celebrate many more with my soul mate.
**I believe in soul mates, do you?
**This past weekend is when we actually celebrated our Anniversary. We went to our favorite restaurant, Bonefish Grille, a movie. Did lots and lots of shopping and made a special dinner on Saturday night. The best part was dessert…..my friend and co-worker, made us a lovely gender reveal gluten free cake! 🙂 so as of Saturday night Curt and I know if we are having a little man or a little miss. I will be revealing the gender to you all after we reveal to friends and family. So you have to wait a little longer! Any guesses? 🙂
**Pottery Barn Kids is where parents budgets for their little ones goes out the door….we walked in there just to look and walked out with only THREE items…and poorer. 😦 but I love what we got! I will have to do a nursery tour when it’s all done.
**I am very anxious to get the nursery done, almost done with the second trimester and I feel like we have so much left to do! And I feel like we are doing a lot of waiting…..normal right?
**We are SO close to being done with the basement and its so frustrating because the only thing we are waiting on now is the carpet install. Several days since we picked out our carpet and its still not in!
**I am not a patient person (I’m trying) and I like schedules.
**Two year anniversary gift is cotton, so we decided to pick out a boy and girl outfit from Baby Gap take the gender card up with our money and walk out of the store while the clerks rang up the right outfit. So we had our “cotton” present but with so much more meaning. I can’t wait to share it with you, it’s so cute! 🙂
**I am very nervous how our dog, Brynn, will handle new baby. Any advice?

Our gender reveal cake! Thank you Julia! 🙂

Monday Musings: Prince or Princess??

This is the week!!! By Saturday evening Curt and I will know if we have a little Prince or a Princess on the way!! EEEEKKKK!! I am SO excited to find out!! Unfortunately, we will not be sharing the news with everyone right away….sorry! We thought it was perfect timing to wait and share with family on Thanksgiving. Then I have another idea of how to share with friends so I promise by the first week in December, or perhaps the last week in November, if you are lucky….I will be posting if we will be having a dude or a dudette.

But for now, here is my weekly belly photo update!!

23 Weeks, 2 Days

How far along? 23 weeks, 2 days.
Maternity clothes? Yes,
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I wake up often.
Best moment this week: Still feeling lots of movement and baby is getting. Offer and stronger.
Miss anything? I don’t think I’ve ever craved gluten so much!
Movement: Yep! 🙂
Food cravings: Steak, fish, and lots and lots of sweets!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still cottage cheese, raisins, string cheese…but not as bad as first trimester.
Have you started to show yet: Yes!
Gender: I still think its a boy, Curt is unsure again. We will find out this weekend! So excited!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On except at night I’ve been taking off all my rings. My fingers tend to swell a little at night.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Both.
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender and buying clothes for Baby Boy or Girl! 🙂

So we had to take this photo 3 times, I’ve learned that 3 is the limit Curt can handle taking the same photo. I just look so blah in the mornings!! Maybe it’s the flash. Who knows! But I make poor Curt wait to drink is coffee and continue his morning rituals until I’m satisfied. Lately, I haven’ t been satisfied with any of my photos….ahh such is life! Anyways….I keep asking Curt do I look fat? and he is like no you look pregnant….Hmmm….does every pregnant woman think she just looks chubby vs. preggo? Or is it just me??

Anyways!! Happy Monday friends!

Monday Musings

**Sadly, I have not changed my chalkboard from 21 weeks to 22 (which I now am), so you will see my Baby A. post tomorrow….a few days late.

**Curt is SO close to finishing the basement! He has done an AMAZING job, working on it during the week, all weekend etc. I can’t wait until it’s finished and I can bring him an ice cold beer and he can watch whatever he wants down there. He deserves it! Then as soon as he finishes that ice cold beer it will be on to the nursery, the bathroom and a million other projects before Baby joins us in just a few short months.

**I can’t believe I’m 5 months pregnant! EEK! With the holidays coming up I know it’s going to fly by. My 2nd trimester has been great, I have energy again and can eat! YAY, for food! Now, it is ok for pregnant women to eat lots and lots of cookies every day right? I mean it’s acceptable, because all I seem to want are sweets!

**We have officially decided to find out the gender. The card has been sitting on our fridge silently laughing at us. I’ll do a post in the coming weeks as to why we decided. But you should know either way I will be so ecstatic and I’m SO excited to find out if I need to go shopping for a little girl or boy. I can’t wait to get some gender specific clothes in our nursery. I also can’t wait to share how we are going to find out and take lots of photos.

**Speaking of Baby A, I ordered our galvanized letters from Pottery Barn kids this weekend. Even though we will be finding out the gender, we will still not be sharing the names we have chosen (sorry mom!). But, Pottery Barn Kids had exactly what I was looking for so I ordered the letter for our girl name and the letter for our boy…and good thing too because both are back ordered for months!!! Did you share your baby names with people?

**I voted early. Have you voted yet? Please vote, please, please vote!

**Whoa, to all of you living out East….thinking of you this week! Stay safe!

**Beggars Night is tomorrow for us, we don’t get a lot of kids but I feel like I need to buy a few bags of candy for the two we will get….it’s ok to eat the rest right? 😉

**Happy Halloween!
