Monday Musings on a Tuesday

**Home Ownership sometimes is a bitch. As you know, Curt and I are finishing our basement. Well, Curt is finishing our basement…I just sit there and look pretty. Anyways, we were making GREAT progress….we could almost smell the new furniture and new TV down there…and then it rained….Now we have NEVER had problems in our basement before with rain. On Sunday we found out that our window down there wasn’t sealed right and we didn’t have a plastic covering so rain got in through the window, down our finished walls to the cement. ALL OVER! We realized it was the window AFTER taking some chunks out of the wall just to make sure it wasn’t the foundation. So what did we learn? 1. We are always learning when it comes to home ownership. 2. We should have Googled before taking out the wall 3. To always have proper covering over your window 4. Laugh it off, it could have been worse. Yes it’s a set back but we didn’t have carpet down yet, it isn’t a foundation issue and the dry wall isn’t ruined…silver lining.

**So we have been doing A LOT of reading….reading on pregnancy, reading on once the baby is here etc. We have several classes we will be taking advantage of etc. I hope we don’t get information overload. But I am SOAKING up everything we read.

**One thing I’ve read about and heard about is pregnancy brain. People, it is a REAL thing! I feel like I’m in a fog, I can barely remember anything. I’m usually so organized and I feel like I’m all over the place. My poor staff, my poor husband etc. At least I have a valid excuse right? 🙂

**Speaking of my husband, I have to give a shout out to him! He has been AMAZING the first half of pregnancy and I know he will be just as amazing the last 20 weeks and be a great dad. I know I’m not the nicest human in the world right now, if you can even call me a human some days….BUT he has been so supportive and willing to help out. Ladies, make sure you have a good guy in your life, I am so lucky.

**When I got home from work today there was a big box in my driveway….our crib arrived! What a nice surprise! I can’t wait for Curt to get home to move it inside. He doesn’t know yet, but I want him to put it together tonight. 🙂 even though we still have the guest bed in the nursery I’m sure we can make room.

**I am hungry all the time!

**It has been a little warm here in Iowa for mid October….tomorrow the temperature is supposed to drop about 10 degrees and be rainy. I want Fall weather here, so that drop is ok with me.

**I am really excited to register for Baby this weekend. I will let you know how many fights we get in. 😉

Monday Musings

**So I didn’t like my 19 week photo today and now my hubby isn’t here so you will have to wait a few extra days for my weekly baby bump photo.
**it always amazes me how sometimes I can’t seem to dress myself, I can’t tell you how many times I have needed Curt to zip me up, tie a bow in the back of a dress help with a clasp etc. what do people do when they live alone? Just not buy those items? Or maybe they are more flexible and can reach back there?
**So far during this pregnancy I think one of the hardest things has been choosing a daycare. I think that was more overwhelming then trying to think of names, choose a doctor, pick paint color etc. Choosing the place where our child will go for 8 hours a day, choosing a place where they will see my child more than me, it makes me sick to think about. Luckily, we found one we both love….but look for a blog post soon on working moms and my thoughts.
**Speaking of pregnancy….I really haven’t shared much about it yet. As you know, I’m 19 weeks. Almost half way done! Keep cooking baby! 🙂 The first trimester was rough, I was pretty sick and exhausted all the time. I don’t know why it’s called morning sickness, it should be called all day/don’t try and ever get anything done/good luck getting through work sickness…just saying. I ended up taking a prescription to help three times a day! Eventually I got down to one a day, then one as needed and I haven’t taken any of the pills since about week 13, so I am VERY happy to be well into my 2nd trimester and feeling much better.
**We are also going with A Midwife vs. an OBGYN, it wasn’t a hard decision and I couldn’t be happier with our decision. Again, I will share more on why we chose that route later.
**I am currently listening to 90s alternative/grunge on my Pandora….Hootie just came on. Awesome.
**Have you decorated for Fall yet? I have, my owls are out, my Halloween decor is out, my pumpkins are ready to be carved and my Fall scented candle is on. I LOVE Fall!
**Curt and I always try and go to a scary movie around Halloween, I love Fall but I am not one for dressing up and going out, we also don’t get too many kids in our neighborhood for trick or great night. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t prepare and buy a ton of candy for the two kids that come to our door….I can’t help if we have leftovers….don’t worry Baby A loves candy so no worries on it going old.
**As I mentioned we try and see a scary movie every Halloween, and the past several years we have gone to Paranormal Activity. This year is no different, we will be going to Paranormal Activity 4 this year, 4! Eek! We love them!
**In a couple weeks we will register for Baby A and I am so excited! What are some things first time moms need, I need help!

Monday Musings: Special Edition

So normally I do my whole list of opinions/thoughts for Monday’s. But today I’m going to do a post on my baby bump. Now, that we have officially announced it to the world I can let you know I have been taking pictures of my growing baby bump and answering the same questions with each week. I got the idea from this blog, and even though her handwriting and chalkboard are way better I still enjoy it and enjoy having these weekly posts. So I’m working on getting a collage of the past several weeks so you can see my past weekly photos but for now I’m starting with Week 18 which is where we are at today! Enjoy!

Monday Musings~~Special Announcement!!

Our dog has a very special announcement she would like to share for this week’s Monday Musings…..see below! 🙂

That’s right! The Aucutt family is expanding by one come March! March 2nd to be exact. I just had my 17 week appointment. I’ll share our whole story later this week. But for now, enjoy this special Monday Musings! 🙂

Monday Musings

**Fall is in the air! Trees changing to vibrant colors, pumpkin everywhere, spiced apple candles, long sleeves, soups, Fall is truly the best time of the year!
**Another thing I love about Fall? Premieres! What shows are you ready to come back or any new shows you want to watch? I love New Girl, Criminal Minds, The Office (although it’s time to say goodbye), Parks and Rec and much more! One show at might have to stop watching….Glee.
**Speaking of Glee….it was hard for me to finish last season and I’m thinking I won’t even try that hard this season. It worries me that kids nowadays might really be this mean! Were they that mean when I was in high school? Did I have blinders on? I also think its a little too provocative for the time it’s on…but that’s Fox for ya. I’m over it.
**I have been getting sucked into The X Factor…mainly because of Britney Spears…don’t judge! I love her, but the show is actually pretty good.
**I know I have mentioned this before but we are in the process of finishing our basement…Lowell Curt is. We are getting so close! I can’t wait to share the final product with you all!
**I am so glad Ellen is back! I love her!
**I watch The Voice when nothing else is on and here are my thoughts: I think Blake is cocky and mean, I can never understand Cee Lo, Christina never has anything good or intelligent to say, Adam is by far my favorite….
**A lot about tv this post….do you watch any of the shows I mentioned? Anything I should be watching? I promise I don’t watch as much as this post probably makes it sound…… 🙂

Monday Musings

**Monday Musings are BAAAACCCKK!!! So sorry for the hiatus. But after we went on vacation it was like I just couldn’t get back into it. So I took a vacation from blogging for a while. But I’m so excited to be back and share all my sometimes (I think) insightful wisdom! But really, it’s just my random thoughts and opinions.

**We went to the Journey concert at the Iowa State Fair this past weekend. If you didn’t know, I’m a HUGE Journey fan. I saw them a few years ago too. It was a great concert, went a little late for this early bedtime gal, but great. HOWEVER, behind us there were several middle-aged woman who were WASTED. I’m not sure what’s worse 50 year women who are wasted or 20 year old girls who are….I think it’s the older women, mainly because you are an adult. It’s ok to have fun but hold it together. They kept hitting us, and spilled beer on some of the heads of people we were with, I mean it was a little exteme….but I hope they felt like crap the next day!

**Speaking of the Iowa State Fair…It’s a pretty big thing around here and I think nationwide?? I don’t know…but I dislike it! I hate going to the fair, I don’t really care to see livestock and since I’m GF I can’t eat any of the good fried stuff. However, my husband LOVES the fair. He used to go with his family growing up. So we went a little early before the concert and walked around…I ate pork chop on a stick, corn on the cob on a stick, dill pickle on a stick…you get the idea.

**I dislike it when I meet someone born and raised in Iowa and they say ya’ll. Drives me NUTS!!!!

**I also dislike when people say “Nom,Nom,Nom” on their FB or Twitter status.

**Another thing I dislike…and this will be the last thing for this post I promise…I dislike this man. Did you read about what he said about rape victims and pregnancy?! TALK ABOUT UNEDUCATED!!!!!!!!!! And what makes me so angry is people support these uneducated people to make YOUR decisions!! He quickly came back with a statement saying he “mis-spoke.” UGH…..makes me sick. Ok, no more politics…(Go Obama!) That’s it I promise! 😉

**Enough of my dislikes…let’s talk about my likes! Today is my husbands 27th bday!! WOOHOO!! I love celebrating birthdays, as you know I feel you should rejoice in the fact that you are still here on this earth, celebrate it!! I got him a remote control helicopter (HE REALLY WANTED IT), and tonight is grilled steak and chocolate cake!! Even on his bday he let’s me make GF chocolate cake so I can enjoy it too. Keeper!

**Another like of mine…Being HOME! I was at a conference in Kansas City all last week. I missed home, I missed my bed, my husband, my dog, home cooked food. I’m officially a homebody!

**Have a great week everyone, and if you are living in Iowa and love a good time then check out Taste Iowa this Saturday in Conrad. It’s a great, local event!

Monday Musings

**I feel like my life consists of lists, lists and more lists. I try to stay very organized, and lists is a way I can do that. I love, LOVE checking things of my list. I feel like we are such a society of go,go, go in order to keep my sanity I need lists.
**Not only do I like lists but I like schedules. I know not all of life can and should be scheduled….but one can wish. 🙂
**I kinda have been sucking at running lately…a mile here, two miles there…ugh what happened to the running 4-5 miles every other day?! Dare I say I miss it….? No, what I miss is getting that good work out in and now I have to build that up again because I was slacking….damn.
**Did I tell you we got tickets to see Journey in concert? Yep, this August Journey is coming to the Iowa State Fair again. I saw them a few years ago and I just can’t miss them! They are awesome in concert. I’m a little bummed they are at the fair (not my favorite venue for a concert) but I will take it.
**I hate it when I spell something so wrong that not even spell check can recognize the word, so then I spend the next five minutes trying to get close to getting it so eventually spellcheck will figure it out.
**Every day I bet I consider or ask myself why I haven’t deactivated my Facebook account….I just need to suck it up and do it. I really get sick of some of the stuff people post….I even went through and deleted a bunch of “friends” but alas I still get annoyed. The Facebook dos and donts post is coming soon!
**Speaking of lists, I have to run because we have lots to do tonight!

Enjoy this picture of us sitting on the biggest walnut rocking chair in Iowa! However, from this angle we look like we are the perfect size for it! Haha.
