Sunday Coffee

*One of the products we are loving right now is the NoseFrida Snot Sucker. Grayson is in daycare and seems to get EVERYTHING, which I hear is quite common for daycare kids. I LOVED the bulb syringe they sent home with us from the hospital. I used it ALL THE TIME, Grayson is almost 11 months and I used it well into his 9 month at least….until I saw this article. (DISCLAIMER: DON’T READ THAT ARTICLE IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH). Anyways, I knew I had to toss the good old bulb away….even though I cleaned it after every use, used soapy warm water etc. As most of you mommies out there probably know the store bought bulb syringes SUCK!! So I did some research and turns out the NoseFrida got rave reviews. I will say it totally grosses me out to actually use it on him, but it helps and it is so much better than just wiping his nose. I never get ANYTHING, you literally couldn’t get anything…so my review 4 stars out 5. I’d give it 5 but I just don’t think it’s as good as the hospital syringe they give you…plus it is pretty gross to do.

**Speaking of noses, while we are on the topic. When I gave birth to Grayson before we left the hospital we were giving loads of stuff. Bottles, nipples, formula (didn’t even ask or need it), witch hazel wipes, that wonderful mesh undies etc….I mean bags full of stuff…But one tiny little bulb syringe! Couldn’t they have given us 10 of those like they did everything else?! Maybe I should have asked the one nice nurse I did have…I didn’t have very many (another story). Lesson learned. Next baby I will be asking for more of those awesome syringes.

**Everyone and their sister seems to be having babies this year. And I mean early in the year….I probably know at least 10 women who have or will be giving birth in the very near future! Good luck to all you future mommies or brand new mommies or veteran mommies. Ask for some extra bulb syringes for me and let me know if you get any! 😉

**Well, we got hooked on a new Netflix show…this time it’s only on Netflix. It’s called Orange is the New Black. Ever heard of it? It’s based (loosely, I think) on a woman who actually went to prison for about 11 months…Luckily this time it’s only one season so far but it sucked us in. I’m thinking about looking into the book too. Has anyone read the book? I’ve heard it’s got some MAJOR differences…let me know what you think!

**I wonder if we will be the only ones not watching the Super Bowl?? Not even for the commercials or half time show will we watch it. I like Bruno Mars, but not enough to watch a football game to see him, and I can see all the commercials online….I’m just not a football fan…gasp! Sorry! I know, I know…..but instead of watching the game I think I’ll go get my weekly stash of groceries…trust me the time to grocery shop is right in the middle of the game…not before..GOD NO, not before the game…in the middle. Will I see you there?

**We have been trying out some new churches in our new neighborhood….but so far they all seem to hit around the time of Grayson’s morning nap. I refuse to take him to sleep in the church nursery. To me the point of going as a family is to go as a family, even if he doesn’t quite get it I don’t want to shuffle him off to a nursery. Nor, do I like him to sleep in another please any more than I have to…daycare is enough for me and that’s barely ok for me….So the search continues for one we love, one we can actually attend during awake time. Let me know if you go to a church you love in the DSM Metro. Would love to check it out!

Enjoy your day whether you are watching the game, napping during the game or grocery shopping like me during the game.

Oh and I heard the Groundhog saw his shadow….6 more weeks of winter!!!! UGH, I think I’ll spend some time today daydreaming of green grass, sprinklers and Gerber Daisy’s! 🙂

Save the Date for REAL!!! :)

Ok, since I’m sitting in a blizzard here in my townhouse, I figured I could write a new post.  I have some very important news, we had to change our date to November 13, 2010. So, I apologize for the confusion, but I PROMISE November 13th is the date!  We were set on the 6th but due to some reception spots we switched it to the 13th so we could get the place we wanted.  The place we chose was….drum roll please……Jester Park Lodge!!!

Entrance to Jester Park Lodge

This past weekend Curt and I were very busy with wedding stuff.  On Saturday morning we had our first meeting with Sister Virgina Jennings at the Catholic church here in Altoona.  I know we were both a little nervous to begin our meetings at the Catholic church, but Sister Virgina was so nice and sweet it really wasn’t bad at all.  I know some of you aren’t Catholic, so to give you some background on what we will be doing in order to get married in a Catholic church.

We will be going through some meetings with different people in the church.  First, we met with Sister Virgina, then we will meet with Father Timothy, and sometime we are introduced to a couple in the church.  I believe we also have to do some sort of couples retreat sometime within the next few months.  Our first meeting with Sr. Virginia went really well.  We had to do this FOCCUS test (Facilitating Open Couple Communication Understanding and Study), which is basically 175 questions about our relationship.  It’s for marriage compatibility, but I know we are perfect for each other so no worries. 🙂 It really wasn’t too bad, because Curt and I had already discussed everything that was basically on it.  Things like children, finances, religion etc.  Our next meeting will be going over this test, but I think we passed with flying colors. 🙂

St. John and Paul Catholic Church

So things are coming together.  I think we both feel much better now that we have a definite date, we have a reception location AND a ceremony location.  We are so excited to share this day with close friends and family.

Save the date~~ November 13, 2010~~
