Monday Musings

**So I didn’t like my 19 week photo today and now my hubby isn’t here so you will have to wait a few extra days for my weekly baby bump photo.
**it always amazes me how sometimes I can’t seem to dress myself, I can’t tell you how many times I have needed Curt to zip me up, tie a bow in the back of a dress help with a clasp etc. what do people do when they live alone? Just not buy those items? Or maybe they are more flexible and can reach back there?
**So far during this pregnancy I think one of the hardest things has been choosing a daycare. I think that was more overwhelming then trying to think of names, choose a doctor, pick paint color etc. Choosing the place where our child will go for 8 hours a day, choosing a place where they will see my child more than me, it makes me sick to think about. Luckily, we found one we both love….but look for a blog post soon on working moms and my thoughts.
**Speaking of pregnancy….I really haven’t shared much about it yet. As you know, I’m 19 weeks. Almost half way done! Keep cooking baby! 🙂 The first trimester was rough, I was pretty sick and exhausted all the time. I don’t know why it’s called morning sickness, it should be called all day/don’t try and ever get anything done/good luck getting through work sickness…just saying. I ended up taking a prescription to help three times a day! Eventually I got down to one a day, then one as needed and I haven’t taken any of the pills since about week 13, so I am VERY happy to be well into my 2nd trimester and feeling much better.
**We are also going with A Midwife vs. an OBGYN, it wasn’t a hard decision and I couldn’t be happier with our decision. Again, I will share more on why we chose that route later.
**I am currently listening to 90s alternative/grunge on my Pandora….Hootie just came on. Awesome.
**Have you decorated for Fall yet? I have, my owls are out, my Halloween decor is out, my pumpkins are ready to be carved and my Fall scented candle is on. I LOVE Fall!
**Curt and I always try and go to a scary movie around Halloween, I love Fall but I am not one for dressing up and going out, we also don’t get too many kids in our neighborhood for trick or great night. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t prepare and buy a ton of candy for the two kids that come to our door….I can’t help if we have leftovers….don’t worry Baby A loves candy so no worries on it going old.
**As I mentioned we try and see a scary movie every Halloween, and the past several years we have gone to Paranormal Activity. This year is no different, we will be going to Paranormal Activity 4 this year, 4! Eek! We love them!
**In a couple weeks we will register for Baby A and I am so excited! What are some things first time moms need, I need help!

Monday Musings~~Special Announcement!!

Our dog has a very special announcement she would like to share for this week’s Monday Musings…..see below! 🙂

That’s right! The Aucutt family is expanding by one come March! March 2nd to be exact. I just had my 17 week appointment. I’ll share our whole story later this week. But for now, enjoy this special Monday Musings! 🙂

Monday Musings

**We got bikes this weekend!! I mean we went all out, decent bikes, helmets, water bottles, a hitch for the car etc. The one thing we did not get was padded shorts….and you need those!!! They are currently on my list to buy.  We will plan to take them on vacation with us. I’m excited for a new cardio that we can do together (Curt hates running).

**I also hate running. BUT I run because I think it’s a good way to stay in shape. I wish, oh how I wish I was one of those people who run because that’s “their time,” those runners that can without music or just run and not pay attention to how far they have left, they run because they love it. Trust me, I’ve tried to be one of those runners and it’s not me. So right now I’ll stick to my running on the treadmill to Season 1 of Glee to get my runs in and finished.

**Are you good with time management?  With so much going on in our lives now I think it’s important to have good time management skills. When you work 8 hours a day, have a family, work out, eat right, have hobbies, etc. Time management is critical.

**Calling all women out there…what’s the ONE thing, the ONE thing, that if you forgot to put on make-up wise you would have to run to the store and get some no matter where you were or where you were going? For me it’s mascara. The last thing I put on before I leave, I think I’ve forgotten to do it ONCE and at 7am I ran to Hy-Vee to buy some. Did you know Hy-Vee doesn’t really carry make-up? Nope, but they did have this 99 cent brand that I think might have made my eyes bleed….but ya know what? I took one for the team and bought it and put it on. All the girls out there will understand me for this one.

**We went to the Autism Walk on Sat. morning for my nephew Caden.  The Walk itself always has a lot going on but it always, always feels so unorganized to me.  Apparently we missed the opening ceremony and everyone just started walking. It was chaotic, but we were there, and we supported Caden and that’s what was important.

**Now that we have bikes we might consider doing this race in August with my sister and her boyfriend. Has anyone ever done it? I’m a little nervous to actually ride my bike on the busy streets of DSM as opposed to the trail in Altoona….thoughts? Can novice bikers do this and survive? 😉

**I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again. Please be nice to one another.

Monday Musings

Oh my goodness, with the long holiday weekend I almost forgot to do a Monday Musings post! Luckily, I did remember! So here we go…

**How is your holiday weekend going? We have had very warm weather here in Iowa so we spent post of our weekend being outside. We planted flowers, had bonfires, grilled, visited family and more. My birthday weekend has been filled with fun, sun, laughter, and family. 🙂

**Curt has been working on the basement whenever he can this long weekend and currently he is down there with this nail gun that sounds like a shot-gun! He warned all our neighbors we were doing the basement and might be a little loud but this gun is scary loud! And the fact that we don’t know when it’s comings makes it worse. Our poor dog is very on edge and jumps with every single noise of the gun. Soon though it will all be worth it.

**Speaking of the basement….we had our first injury. Nothing too serious, Curt sliced the tip of his finger open with a blade while cutting some dry wall.  No need for stitches but I think this basement will be built with blood, sweat and tears. But hopefully no more blood. We certainly have already had the sweat, and now the blood maybe the tears will be tears of joy when it’s finished.

**We bought a new grill this weekend. We grill in the Spring/Summer/Fall probably 3-4 times a week! And Curt’s grill he had for 3 plus years has been through a lot, so we thought it a wise investment to get a new one now. The first thing we grilled on the new grill was organic, grass-fed rib eye and it was delicious.Do you grill a lot? What’s your favorite thing to grill?

**Tomorrow on my actual birthday I believe we will be going to Bonefish Grille.  They have one of the best gluten-free menus in the area, and they have this raspberry martini with fresh martinis that is just fantastic. I can’t wait.

**Since it is Memorial Day I would like to thank everyone who has served for our freedom, we are very lucky to live in the United States and we can live here with our freedom due to all of those who have served our country for us. We are forever grateful for your courage and service.

**And to end this Monday Musings post, a photo of Brynn passed out from all the fun family activities. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Monday Musings

**I’m pretty proud of myself for sticking to my Monday Musings and Words for Wednesdays posts, I hope you have been enjoying them. I’m much better if I stick to my plans and schedule things out.

**This weekend we went to see my niece, Caleigh, at her first dance recital (she’s 4). It was cute, she looked adorable and I’m pretty sure she was the best dancer out there…but I’m a little biased. Below are two images of Caleigh doing Curt’s hair…aparently by brushing his hair he could be turned into Prince Charming. Not sure if Prince wore a yellow headband, but heck I’ll take that Prince Charming any day. 🙂 PS Caleigh’s face in the 2nd photo is priceless. If we are every fortunate enough to have kids some day I hope we have at least one girl. That way she will always have her daddy to play Prince Charming.

Missed a spot!

Missed a spot!

**I have a 30 minute commute, sometimes less, sometimes more. I’m sure to the real big city folk (Boston, Chicago etc.) that’s nothing, but it kinda sucks. Some days I really like that time I have to think and just listen to music, other times I just want to be there in less than 10. I know I made that choice when I bought my townhome but let me tell ya somedays it really stinks. And when we have kids someday I know it will stink even more.

**I think people abuse their Facebook Status option. Perhaps abuse isn’t the right term, but that’s what comes to mind. I’m not fond of Facebook anymore, I like Twitter much better. I really only stay on it to stay in touch with closer family and friends, I find myself deleting people, or blocking people from certain things. It’s too much work anymore. I will be doing a post soon on my own thoughts on Facebook Dos and Donts. I’m no social media expert, nor do I think I am or want to be one…so when I post that post just know it’s my opinion. 🙂

**My new favorite drink is Snapple Apple. Say it, it’s fun. Good luck trying to find it…and if you do find it let me know where.

**Curt and I spent all day yesterday doing nothing except reading. It was great and hard for me…I’m used to schedules and plans and cleaning and baking and doing things….so it was relaxing to just hang out and read and not do ANYTHING. Took me awhile to stop thinking about all the chores but eventually I did just read and I liked not having a plan or schedule for the day.

**What was I reading you may ask? Well, I read the “Fifty Shades of Grey” Trilogy.  I’m a pretty fast reader and read over 1200 pages of it this weekend, EEK! Have you heard of it? I’m sure you have….I would say get your mind out of the gutter, but that doesn’t apply to this book. Look for my review coming soon but to leave you hanging this trilogy is MOUTH DROPPINGLY SHOCKING! (Is that a word?)

**I have a new favorite band  Check them out :

That’s the latest Monday Musings folks, talk to you soon!

Monday Musings

So I thought I’d try something different again and add Monday Musings to my blog posts. I now have Words for Wednesday and now Monday Musings. If you are a social media expert and you say two themes on one blog like this is not a good idea….well I’m here to prove you wrong. 🙂

The definition of Musing according to the Free Dictionary online is:

1. Contemplation; meditation.
2. A product of contemplation; a thought

So I’ll try and post my “musings,” as they were for the week, for life etc. And see where it takes us.

For this first Monday Musing I thought I’d share my thoughts on time…and with that our trip to Chicago.
I was just in Chicago for a work conference and Curt I decided to stay a little longer to get away from it all. It was so nice not having to be anywhere on time (except for the conference) but we were able to leisurely walk around, go in whatever shop we wanted, grab some coffee and just enjoy eachother and our time there. I think sometimes in life we are such a go, go, go generation we forget to step back and smell the roses. Cliche I know but its true. Time is passing…and quickly, so it’s important to us that we really focus on the here rather then the later or past. We want to be PRESENT. Let me tell you this is no easy task as my mind is always on a million other things then what I’m doing in the present. I’ve really tried to work on that. And Chicago was one way we did that. So to end this Monday Musing, here are some pictures from our quick trip to the Windy City.
