Sunday Coffee

How was your holiday weekend?? We had a great time! We went to a carnival (Grayson was not impressed, see pictures below), we were able to see Urbandale’s fireworks from our sidewalk (a HUGE plus for me!), and we went to a BBQ at my parents on Saturday (rain and all). Today we just plan to relax and clean-up and then it’s back to work we go!! But for now…a few mindless thoughts.

**Grayson has a thing about getting up around 530/545 and sometimes we are lucky enough that if we go in and lay him down again he will go back to sleep. Today was one of those days and he fell back asleep until 7! The funny thing is if I go in and do it he NEVER falls asleep but when Curt goes in that kids throws himself back down on the bed as if we never saw him get up and jump and scream for the last 15 minutes.

**Speaking of Grayson…when he woke up this morning heΒ was not my good natured baby….heΒ was a feisty little boy!!! I feel as if over night this kid got an attitude and the attitude is I’m going to do whatever I want…and screech when I get told I can’t. I think we have entered “the terrible 2’s” a tad early…..that’s ok…this lady sums it up perfectly. I’m going to enjoy this ride and revel in the fact that my little baby is growing up into a smart, independent boy and I will let him be who he is.

** I’m not a fan of fireworks…when I was little I was at a firework show and there was a rogue firework which ended up going RIGHT past my head and hitting this shed behind me which ended up with another little girls hair on fire!! So yea, not a fan of fireworks. But this 4th of July we ended up watching them on the sidewalk from quite a distance. We could see and hear them well but they weren’t right over us and we could walk two steps to the comfort of our own home and not deal with traffic. With a little one that goes to bed so early it was nice to actually be able to watch them and keep him on his schedule. Win for all.

** Speaking of 4th of July, I’m not a fan of the hashtag “Merica” I know many of you will disagree as almost all my social friends used it multiple times over the past couple of days. It’sΒ just my opinion! I wonder how that even got started…America isn’t that long…just say the whole word. Please for me would you do #AMERICA next year? πŸ˜‰

**Are you a fan of the Today show or Good Morning America? In college I was a big fan of GMA, but now I’m totally in to the Today show. I’m a big fan of Carson Daly. I sort of feel like we grew up into our adulthood together…from TRL days (for those of you who remember when MTV actually played music and was good) Β to the national news….he has grown up and I still love him!

** There is a commercial for Extra gum and it’s AMAZING! It’s about a guy that makes origami cranes from the foil from the wrapper for his daughter and it shows her growing up and all these big and little moments in her life he makes her a crane. I won’t spoil the ending but it pulled at my heart strings and I now want to only by Extra gum. Well played Extra, well played…..

** A good friend of mine is due with her baby girl in about 9 weeks!!! She asked me to giver her some frozen meal ideas and what to bring to the hospital when it’s go time. I think I will share my thoughts with you all too! I know I found it way helpful to hear from others on what is a must and a not so must. To each their own but I definitely like hearing from others on it!

I hope you enjoy your Sunday friends!!! And here are a few photos of our holiday weekend!

Yes, that’s why I have been MIA the past few weeks. On March 4th at 5:24pm this little man came into the world and stole our hearts. On Monday he will be 4 weeks old already! I will share his birth story later but for now here are some pictures of our little man.

12 Days!

My mom sends a countdown via email every day and I can’t believe that today it said 12 days until Baby Boy! Now, I know it’s just based on my due date and yes I know I can go past my due date. But 12 days until my due date seems insane! And here in the Midwest we are supposed to get this big snow storm on Thursday….Apparently a lot of babies are born in storms, something with the pressure dropping. Who knows! All I know is if we do have this baby this week we will be ready. My mom came up this weekend and we got our last minute baby needs, cooked, cleaned it was great. Thanks Mom!

Now, on to my 38 week update! I have about five outfits I rotate, hence why you keep seeing this one. πŸ™‚ it’s so comfortable! I promise I do my laundry… A lot!

Bump Update:35 Weeks

33 days and counting! How crazy is that?! Seems like just yesterday we were in the Ozarks and we found out we were preggo and had to keep it a secret for several days with the family until we were ready to tell them. I remember taking wine and making Curt drink it haha, and I remember at our last dinner there ordering root beer and my mom shouting down the table “Megan, are you just drinking pop? Why? You don’t want a drink?” Not that I drink a lot but I think my mom was monitoring my drinks for months trying to figure out when we were pregnant. Haha, moms….fast forward and here we are, clearly pregnant and ready to pop!

Monday Musings on a Tuesday

**Home Ownership sometimes is a bitch. As you know, Curt and I are finishing our basement. Well, Curt is finishing our basement…I just sit there and look pretty. Anyways, we were making GREAT progress….we could almost smell the new furniture and new TV down there…and then it rained….Now we have NEVER had problems in our basement before with rain. On Sunday we found out that our window down there wasn’t sealed right and we didn’t have a plastic covering so rain got in through the window, down our finished walls to the cement. ALL OVER! We realized it was the window AFTER taking some chunks out of the wall just to make sure it wasn’t the foundation. So what did we learn? 1. We are always learning when it comes to home ownership. 2. We should have Googled before taking out the wall 3. To always have proper covering over your window 4. Laugh it off, it could have been worse. Yes it’s a set back but we didn’t have carpet down yet, it isn’t a foundation issue and the dry wall isn’t ruined…silver lining.

**So we have been doing A LOT of reading….reading on pregnancy, reading on once the baby is here etc. We have several classes we will be taking advantage of etc. I hope we don’t get information overload. But I am SOAKING up everything we read.

**One thing I’ve read about and heard about is pregnancy brain. People, it is a REAL thing! I feel like I’m in a fog, I can barely remember anything. I’m usually so organized and I feel like I’m all over the place. My poor staff, my poor husband etc. At least I have a valid excuse right? πŸ™‚

**Speaking of my husband, I have to give a shout out to him! He has been AMAZING the first half of pregnancy and I know he will be just as amazing the last 20 weeks and be a great dad. I know I’m not the nicest human in the world right now, if you can even call me a human some days….BUT he has been so supportive and willing to help out. Ladies, make sure you have a good guy in your life, I am so lucky.

**When I got home from work today there was a big box in my driveway….our crib arrived! What a nice surprise! I can’t wait for Curt to get home to move it inside. He doesn’t know yet, but I want him to put it together tonight. πŸ™‚ even though we still have the guest bed in the nursery I’m sure we can make room.

**I am hungry all the time!

**It has been a little warm here in Iowa for mid October….tomorrow the temperature is supposed to drop about 10 degrees and be rainy. I want Fall weather here, so that drop is ok with me.

**I am really excited to register for Baby this weekend. I will let you know how many fights we get in. πŸ˜‰
